Valentine's Day Orchids
The generic name, phalaeonopsis orchid, derives from Greek and is probably a reference to a group of large moths.
The flowers of some species resemble moths in flight and, for this reason, these are sometimes called moth orchids.
Most are shade plants.
Healthy phalaenopsis plants can have up to ten or more leaves.
They bloom in their full glory for several weeks.
Plants kept in the home may have flowers lasting two to three months.
At Susan Avery, we use a variety of pots to complement each orchid.
