Flower Care
Cut Flowers
If your flowers are already tied in a bunch, do not cut the tie ribbon, as the flowers have already been professionally arranged ready to place in a vase.
- Use a clean vase
- Add flower food (or a small amount of bleach or sugar)
- Fill the vase with fresh water
- Remove all foliage that will be below water level.
- Immerse stems in water and cut one inch (2.5cm) off the stems
- Ensure flowers are not in direct sunlight or exposed to drafts.
- Ensure vase is topped up every 24hrs with fresh water
Plants
Ensure you read the directions on the plant identification tag and provide the plant with those specific conditions.
As a general rule allow the plant access to indirect sunlight.
Water the plant every day but ensure that the plant is adequately drained
Arrangements
If you receive an arrangement with the flowers already arranged in an Oasis, ensure you keep it out of direct sunlight and drafts. Check and fill the bowl each day with fresh water.
Roses
After a while (particularly in hot conditions), the head of a rose may droop.
To revive your Roses:
Remove the roses from the Arrangement or Vase.
Carefully wrap paper around the heads of the roses (in a cone shape in order to support the head) and/or simply submerse the entire rose under cool water, and cut the stems. Leave the rose under water for at least an hour until the rose regains its shape then replace the rose in the arrangement/vase.
This method can be repeated with other flowers also, such as tulips, although the time required for immersion may vary.)
Sunflowers
Scorch the stems of Sunflowers by first cutting their stems by about one inch. Then stand the end of the stems (2-3 inches) in boiling hot water, for 30 -60 seconds. Remove and place in a deep vase filled with cold water.
